코인데스크에 따르면 개인정보 보호에 중점을 둔 미국 소셜네트워크 서비스 미위(MeWe)가 폴카닷 기반 프리퀀시(Frequency) 블록체인을 채택, 사용자에게 블록체인 기반 자기 주권 신원증명(Self-Sovereign Identity, 개인정보 주체가 정보에 대한 주권을 갖고 자신을 증명한 수단을 직접 결정 및 관리하는 디지털 신원관리체계) 서비스를 제공한다고 발표했다. 미위 사용자는 소셜 네트워크 상 데이터를 직접 통제할 수 있다.
