크립토베이직에 따르면 리플 CTO 데이비드 슈와츠는 전날 트위터에서 스텔라 공동 창업자 제드 맥칼렙을 두고 "수류탄을 든 미치광이(Crazy Fool)"라며 경계해야 한다고 일침했다. 그러자 맥칼렙은 리플과 소송 중인 미국 SEC(증권거래위원회)의 위원장 게리 겐슬러를 언급하며, 그가 리플을 정신교육해야(set things straight) 한다고 받아쳤다. 리플과 스텔라(XLM) 커뮤니티는 오랜 기간 대립각을 세워왔다.
