지난주 미국 에너지부(DOE) 산하 에너지정보청(EIA)이 채굴자 에너지 사용에 대한 조사를 일시적으로 중단한다고 발표한 가운데, EIA가 암호화폐 채굴자 조사에 대한 피드백을 수렴한다고 1일(현지시간) 발표했다. 코인데스크에 따르면 EIA는 관련 조사를 제안하는 공지를 게시하고 이에 대한 피드백을 60일 동안 수렴할 예정이다. 피드백 수렴이 끝난 이후 설문조사 진행 여부를 결정하게 된다. 앞서 EIA는 미국 비트코인 채굴업체 82곳에 에너지 소비량 보고 긴급조치 명령을 내린 바 있다. 이에 텍사스 블록체인 협의회(Texas Blockchain Council)가 회원사인 라이엇 블록체인(RIOT)과 함께 EIA을 상대로 소송을 제기했다.
