그레이스케일 CEO 마이클 소넨샤인(Michael Sonnenshein)이 X를 통해 "이더리움(ETH) 산업의 발전 과정을 고려할 때, 이더리움을 증권으로 정의해야 한다는 것은 상상할 수 없는 일이다. 과거 2018년 6월 윌리엄 힌먼 전 증권거래위원회(SEC) 기업금융국장이 이더리움은 증권 거래가 아니라고 연설한 기억이 아직도 생생하다"라고 밝혔다.
