폭스비즈니스 기자 엘리노어 테렛(Eleanor Terrett)이 X를 통해 "도널드 트럼프 미국 대통령 당선인의 증권거래위원회(SEC) 위원장 후보는 아직 알려지지 않았으나, 현 위원장 게리 겐슬러가 임기를 남겨놓고 자진 사임할 가능성이 높아지고 있다. 그의 사임 소식이 언제 발표될지 알 수 없으나, 정치권 내 소문에 따르면 추수감사절 이후 1월 초 트럼프 취임식을 앞두고 사임 의사를 발표할 가능성이 높은 것으로 알려졌다"고 전했다.
