비트코인 회의론자이자 대표적 금 강세론자로 알려진 피터 시프 유로 퍼시픽 캐피털 CEO가 X를 통해 "BTC는 이제 공공의 적 1호(public enemy number one)"라고 전했다. 이어 "BTC는 국가 안보의 위협이 됐다. 개인이 자발적으로 자신의 돈을 낭비하며 BTC를 매수하는 것은 별개의 문제다. 하지만 정부 공무원들에 뇌물을 줘 세금을 낭비해 BTC를 매수하는 것은 선을 넘었다"고 강조했다. 피터 시프는 BTC가 10만 달러를 돌파한 뒤 "BTC는 '꿈'을 이뤘지만, 다음은 악몽이 기다리고 있다"고 전한 바 있다.
