데일리호들이 글로벌 회계법인 RSM 및 영국 현지 매체 데일리메일을 인용, "영국 정부가 재정난을 해결하기 위해 압수한 62.7억 달러 규모 비트코인을 매각할 가능성이 제기되고 있다"고 보도했다. 매체는 "데일리메일 보도에 따르면 영국 재무부 장관 레이첼 리브스(Rachel Reeves)는 비트코인을 매각할 적절한 시기를 찾기 위해 전문가들과 논의하라는 내부 지시를 받은 것으로 알려졌다"고 전했다. 이와 관련 RSM 파트너 크리스 에더링턴(Chris Etherington)은 "비트코인은 변동성이 크고 투기적이다. 지금 당장 매각해야 할 이유는 충분하다. 레이첼 리브스 장관은 정치적 압박 속에 예산책임국(Office for Budget Responsibility)의 경제 예측을 기다리며 비트코인 매각을 검토할 가능성이 높다"고 설명했다.
