뉴스핌에 따르면, 도널드 트럼프 미국 대통령이 13일(현지시간) 자신의 트루스 소셜 계정을 통해 "어제 러시아, 우크라이나와 훌륭한 대화를 했다"며 "그 끔찍하고 매우 피비린내 나는 전쟁을 끝낼 상당한 가능성(good possibility)"이라고 말했다. 트럼프 대통령은 전날 블라디미르 푸틴 러시아 대통령과 전화 통화를 가진 뒤 우크라이나 전쟁을 끝내기 위한 협상을 시작하기로 합의했다고 밝힌 바 있다. 그는 이후 볼로디미르 젤렌스키 우크라이나 대통령과도 전화 통화를 가진 뒤 트루스 소셜에 "우리는 양측 협상팀이 (종전을 위한) 협상을 즉각 개시하도록 하는 데 합의했다"고 알렸다.
