미국 연방준비제도 의장 제롬 파월이 연설을 통해 관세가 경제에 미치는 영향이 예상보다 클 수 있다고 말했다. 이어 "관세가 연준의 추정치 보다 크다. 관세가 인플레이션에 미치는 영향이 더 오래 지속될 수 있다"며 "적어도 일시적으로는 인플레이션을 초래할 것이다. 가격 상승으로 인해 이러한 인플레이션이 지속되지 않도록 해야 한다. 연준은 인플레이션 예상치를 안정적으로 이끌고 갈 의무가 있다"고 설명했다.
