도널드 트럼프 미국 대통령이 방금 전 자신의 트루스 소셜을 통해 "제롬 파월 연방준비제도(Fed·연준) 의장이 지금 기준 금리를 인하하지 않으면 경제 성장이 둔화될 수 있다"고 지적했다. 이와 관련 그는 "많은 사람들이 기준 금리 '선제적 인하'를 요구하고 있다. 에너지 비용도 낮아지고, 식품 가격(바이든이 야기한 계란 파동 포함)도 뚜렷하게 내려갔다. 그외 대부분의 물가가 하락 추세에 있기 때문에 사실상 인플레이션은 거의 없다. 유럽은 이미 일곱 차례나 기준 금리를 인하했다. 파월은 대선 기간 조 바이든(나중엔 카멀라 해리스)의 당선을 돕기 위해 금리를 인하한 경우를 제외하고 항상 금리 인하가 너무 늦었다"고 강조했다.
