“어르신, 코인 투자하세요”…노인 대상 328억 뜯어낸 일당 검거

가상자산 관련 지식이 상대적으로 부족한 노년층을 대상으로 삼아 폰지 사기를 벌여 1400여명에게 330억원을 뜯어낸 일당 18명이 경찰에 붙잡혔다고 이데일리가 전했다. 이들은 2023년 12월부터 지난해 7월까지 "비트코인과 테더를 상호 대규모 교환해 수익을 내고 매일 투자금을 2% 수당으로 지급한다"고 속였다. 수사 결과 사업은 실체가 없었으며, 후순위 투자자의 투자금으로 선순위 투자자에게 수당을 지급하는 전형적인 폰지 사기를 벌인 것으로 조사됐다. 경찰은 범죄수익 65억원 상당을 기소 전 몰수·추진보전했다.
