코인베이스가 암호화폐 옵션 거래소 데리비트(Deribit)를 29억 달러에 인수한다고 밝힌 가운데, 키뱅크(KeyBanc)가 "해당 거래를 통해 코인베이스는 미결제약정 및 옵션 거래량 기준 세계 최대 암호화폐 파생상품 플랫폼으로 부상할 것이다. 바이낸스의 유력한 경쟁자가 될 것"이라고 평가했다. 코인데스크에 따르면 데리비트는 전세계 암호화폐 옵션시장의 95%를 차지하고 있다. 지난해 거래량은 1.2조 달러였다. 또한 영국 투자은행 및 금융서비스회사 바클리스(Barclays)는 "인수를 통해 해외에서의 코인베이스 입지가 확대될 것으로 예상된다. 이는 지리적 격차를 메우는데 도움이 될 것이다. 현재 해외에서 발생하는 매출은 전체의 20%에 불과하다"고 설명했다.
