빌 해거티 미국 공화당 상원의원이 미국 스테이블코인 규제법 지니어스(GENIUS)가 빠르면 다음 주 상원을 통과할 수 있다고 내다봤다. 코인데스크에 따르면 그는 성명을 통해 "다음 주 상원은 결제 스테이블코인에 대한 최초의 성장 친화적인 규제 체계를 구축하는 지니어스 법안을 통과시킬 것이다. 이는 역사적인 순간이 될 것"이라고 강조했다. 민주당 소속 커스틴 질리브랜드 상원의원도 "지니어스 법안의 초안 작성은 초당적 노력을 통해 이루어졌으며, 앞으로 며칠 안에 통과될 수 있을 것"이라는 입장을 내놨다. 지니어스 법안은 지난 9일 본회의 상정 문턱을 넘지 못했으며, 오는 5월 19일(현지시간) 재표결이 예정돼 있다.
