PANews reported on January 3 that it has been 17 years since Satoshi Nakamoto mined the Bitcoin genesis block #0 on January 3, 2009, on a small server in Helsinki, Finland.
Satoshi Nakamoto recorded the Times' front-page headline in the genesis block's CoinBase data: "The Times 03/Jan/2009 Chancellor on brink of second bailout for banks." The block contained only one transaction, and the block reward was 50 bitcoins.
