PANews reported on January 31 that Lighter announced on its X platform a partnership with Axiom to launch the Lighter EVM. This is an EVM equivalent Rollup that interoperates natively with Lighter. The Lighter EVM will allow general-purpose applications to combine with Lighter markets and liquidity in a low-latency manner.

As a general-purpose rollup, Lighter EVM will be secured by OpenVM zkVM while maintaining compatibility with the existing Lighter core financial engine, which supports trading platforms and spot trading.
