Central African Republic to Tokenize Land Using CAR, the Country’s Official Meme Coin

PANews reported on May 30 that according to Decrypt, the President of the Central African Republic, Touadéra, announced that he would tokenize and sell more than 1,700 hectares of land west of the capital Bangui online using the official Meme token CAR through the Solana blockchain starting in June. The presidential decree cited the country's mining regulations and resource tokenization laws, suggesting that the land may be used for gold and diamond mining.

The CAR token was launched in February 2025 to raise the country’s international profile, peaking at $884 million (now down 92.7% from its all-time high). The land tokenization initiative follows the transformation of the country’s national digital currency project, Sango Coin, which announced on April 29 that it was discontinuing its original form and preparing to restart.
