PANews reported on December 5 that the EigenLayer development team Eigen Foundation announced the establishment of the Protocol Council, a newly established multi-stakeholder organization responsible for overseeing EigenLayer's protocol governance.

The committee will be managed by the Gnosis Safe wallet with a 3/5 multi-signature mechanism, and its initial members include two representatives from the Eigen Foundation and three external members. The external members are from blockchain security research company Sigma Prime, encryption service provider Unit410, and Creed and Consensys Diligence teams.

The committee's primary responsibility is to review and approve EigenLayer Improvement Proposals (ELIPs), ensuring that all proposed improvements advance the protocol and support the growth of the EigenLayer ecosystem.
