PANews reported on February 20 that Bitcoin mining company Core Scientific plans to acquire Alabama Data Center to expand its high-performance computing (HPC) hosting to Auburn, Alabama. After signing the lease, Core Scientific becomes the operator of the AUBix facility and plans to exercise the option to purchase the infrastructure. The company will make an initial capital investment of approximately $135 million and expects the total investment in the project to exceed $400 million.
