PANews reported on June 27 that according to the chain detective ZachXBT, Pepe creator Matt Furie and his platform ChainSaw-related projects Replicandy and Peplicator were attacked in mid-June, suspected to be carried out by mis-hired North Korean IT personnel. The attacker took over the contract authority to mint and sell NFTs, causing the floor price to return to zero. The total loss was initially estimated to be over $1 million, of which about $310,000 was stolen from ChainSaw-related projects. The funds involved flowed to exchanges such as MEXC.
