Flashbots launches BuilderNet to combat centralization issues in Ethereum blockchain construction

PANews reported on November 27 that according to The Block, blockchain research and infrastructure provider Flashbots launched BuilderNet, claiming to be aimed at solving the obvious centralization problems that plagued the block building process of the Ethereum network.

Flashbots pointed out that there are currently only a few block builders who dominate Ethereum's block building process. They are responsible for collating transaction bundles and submitting them to obtain MEV, which raises concerns about centralization. To address this problem, Flashbots hopes to adopt a collaborative block building method that encourages multiple operators to work together to safely share and process order flows. This initiative, called BuilderNet, was jointly launched by Flashbots, block builder Beaverbuild, and Ethereum client provider Nethermind as the first partners.

BuilderNet's strategy adopts a multi-operator system that allows all parties to jointly manage the same block builder. The system will use a trusted execution environment to enhance security and performance. In addition, Flashbots said that BuilderNet's initial deployment will work with existing centralized builders from its founding partners, gradually transitioning to a more decentralized structure.
