PANews reported on June 27 that according to Decrypt , a Russian cryptocurrency expert who called herself "Bit Mom" was sentenced to seven years in prison by a Moscow court for planning a $23 million Bitcoin fraud. Prosecutors said that she lured customers to transfer funds to Dubai on the grounds of circumventing Western sanctions, and eventually transferred the funds to a wallet under her control. The case has become one of the largest cryptocurrency frauds in Russia in recent years.
