At 23:00 Beijing time on March 20, US President Trump delivered a speech via video at the Digital Asset Summit (DAS) held in New York City, USA. This is the first time in history that a sitting US president has delivered a speech at a cryptocurrency-themed conference.
The following is the full text of Trump’s speech, translated by Odaily Planet Daily.
Hello, BlockWorks Digital Asset Summit attendees. It’s an honor to join you in discussing how the United States can lead in cryptocurrency and the next generation of financial technology.
It’s not going to be easy, but we’re way ahead of the curve. Just two weeks ago, we held the first-ever White House Digital Asset Summit, bringing together many of the cryptocurrency industry’s leaders from around the world. That meeting was hosted by David Sacks, our White House AI and Crypto Director, who is an incredible and talented person.
That same week, I also signed an order creating the new Strategic Reserve of Bitcoin and the United States Digital Asset Reserve, which will allow the Federal Government to maximize the value of its holdings rather than selling them at far below their long-term value as Biden foolishly did, receiving only a fraction of what these assets were worth.
We will end the last administration’s regulatory war on crypto and Bitcoin, including stopping the illegal Operation Chokepoint 2.0. Operation Chokepoint went way beyond regulation, way beyond, and was a legal battle with the weapons of government. Frankly, it was a disgrace. But starting January 20, 2025, it will all end.
I also call on Congress to pass landmark legislation that sets simple, common-sense rules for stablecoins and market structure. With the right legal framework in place, institutions large and small will be free to invest, innovate, and participate in one of the most exciting technological revolutions in modern history.
This is very important. I think it's unprecedented.
Pioneers like you will be able to improve our banking and payment systems and provide better privacy, security, and wealth to American consumers and businesses. You will unleash an explosive force for economic growth.
Through dollar-backed stablecoins, you will help expand the dollar's dominance. The dollar will maintain its leading position for many years to come, and that's what we want to keep. We want it to stay at the top forever.
I can already see the energy and passion in the cryptocurrency community, and this spirit is exactly the kind of spirit we need to build our country, and it's exciting to watch you invent the future of finance.
And it will all happen right here in America, our great America.
