Stripe co-founder: AI-driven commerce is about to explode, and stablecoins will become a core payment method.

PANews reported on February 25th that, according to The Block, Stripe co-founder and president John Collison predicts a commercial "flood" driven by AI agents in the coming years, believing that stablecoins and high-throughput blockchains will become its core payment drivers. In a recent podcast, Collison stated that autonomous software agents are moving beyond the experimental stage and will increasingly handle real-world economic activities such as payments and capital allocation. He believes that crypto-native paths are structurally better suited to support this "agent economy."

Earlier this year, Stripe integrated the x402 standard, allowing AI agents to transact using USDC on the Base network. This enables software agents to autonomously send and receive stablecoin payments without the need for manual checkout processes.
