Event Introduction:
Against the backdrop of the accelerated integration of AI and blockchain infrastructure, the UK AI Agent Hackathon 2026 will hold its Opening Ceremony on March 1st at Imperial College London, officially kicking off this ecosystem initiative. This event, jointly launched by Imperial AI Group and Imperial Blockchain Society, is not only the start of a hackathon but also a cross-sectoral dialogue bringing together industry, capital, and policy forces, aiming to explore the structural changes brought about by the integration of AI Agents and decentralized infrastructure.
The Opening Ceremony at the hackathon will present a high-profile conference spanning multiple fields, with a lineup of speakers covering cutting-edge AI technology, fintech, venture capital, and representatives from the UK government and business sectors. Former Stability AI CEO Emad Mostaque and Animoca Brands CEO Robby Yung will attend and deliver keynote speeches, engaging in in-depth discussions on generative AI, digital assets, and the next generation of internet architecture.
On the entrepreneurial and technological front, several founders and technical leaders active in AI and Web3 will participate in the dialogue, including representatives from projects such as SuperCell, Compression Company, and z.ai, as well as several founders and investors who have successfully exited their projects. They will exchange ideas on AI Agents, protocol-layer innovation, and market implementation, sharing their practical experience in building products and ecosystems from scratch.
At the capital and industry level, partners and investors from institutions such as BackedVC, RockawayX, Animoca Brands, EWOR, and AdaVentures will participate in the Venture Capital segment to conduct in-depth analysis of the long-term investment logic and structural opportunities in AI and decentralized infrastructure.
Government and business representatives will also be present at the event. Representatives from the UK government's fintech departments, as well as executives from organizations such as Hugging Face and CogX, will participate in discussions to explore the long-term significance of AI and blockchain in terms of regulatory frameworks, industrial upgrading, and social impact.
This hackathon received sponsorship and ecosystem support from several leading industry organizations. Sponsors included BGA, Virtual Protocol, Flock.io, Unibase, Supercell, Animoca Brand, Sierra.ai, Cantor8, Anyway, and Compression Company, providing resources, funding, and technical collaboration support, as well as media support from PANews, helping participating teams build and experiment in a real-world, usable AI infrastructure environment.
It is worth mentioning that the winning projects of the hackathon will receive continued attention and support from multiple VC partners, including Animoca Brands, X Ventures, and Delphi Ventures, providing outstanding teams with further incubation and investment opportunities. This will ensure that the event is not just a showcase, but truly forms a long-term ecosystem.
The Opening Ceremony will set the agenda and technical framework for the following week's co-creation phase and serve as an important node connecting developers, investors, industry players, and policymakers.
