PANews reported on February 28th, citing Fortune, that Altman stated at an all-hands meeting that OpenAI is in discussions with the U.S. Department of Defense regarding an agreement to use its models and tools (not yet signed). The government may allow OpenAI to build its own "security stack" with red lines including "not for use in autonomous weapons/domestic mass surveillance/critical decision-making." This comes against the backdrop of Trump's order to terminate cooperation with Anthropic .
