US nonfarm payrolls unexpectedly fell in February, and the US unemployment rate was slightly higher than expected.

PANews reported on March 6th that U.S. nonfarm payrolls fell by 92,000 in February, compared to a forecast of 59,000 and a revised previous reading of 126,000 (originally reported as 130,000). This marks the first negative nonfarm payroll figure since October 2025, while the market had expected an increase of 59,000. The U.S. unemployment rate rose to 4.4% in February, the highest since December 2025, slightly higher than the market expectation of 4.3%.
