US judge upholds ruling to dismiss subpoenas related to Powell

PANews reported on April 4th that, according to Cailian Press, the U.S. Department of Justice's request to continue its investigation into the costs of the Federal Reserve building renovation was rejected by the court, paving the way for an appeal that could ultimately reach the Supreme Court. Chief Judge James Boasberg of the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia upheld the decision to dismiss two grand jury subpoenas issued by U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro to the Federal Reserve. These subpoenas concerned a criminal investigation into the expenses of the Federal Reserve building renovation and Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell's testimony before Congress. Pirro's office had requested Boasberg to reconsider his decision to dismiss the subpoenas. In his ruling on April 3rd, Boasberg stated, "The government's arguments are far from sufficient to persuade the court to make a different decision." A spokesperson for Pirro stated, "We will absolutely appeal the judicial authorities' interference in our use of a grand jury."
