PANews reported on April 1 that St. Louis Federal Reserve President Mohamed Moussalem said on Wednesday that the energy shock related to the war with Iran will certainly affect overall inflation and could impact core price pressures. Speaking at an event hosted by the American Enterprise Institute in Washington, Moussalem said, "I expect commodity price increases to have a one-to-one impact on overall inflation, and we will see a period of high overall inflation." He added, "Core inflation will also be affected to some extent, and I will closely monitor the extent of the transmission and the correlation between the two."
