PANews reported on May 16th that, according to Jinshi News, US sources stated the Pentagon is preparing to resume military action against Iran, with the US and Israel potentially resuming military strikes as early as next week. US sources indicate that negotiations are currently at an impasse. Reports show that multiple US officials revealed that if the US decides to resume military action against Iran, one option is to conduct more intense bombing of Iranian military and infrastructure targets; another option is to send special operations forces on the ground to obtain Iranian nuclear materials. Hundreds of special operations personnel arrived in the Middle East in March. However, US officials acknowledge that this option carries significant risks. Furthermore, since the ceasefire in early April, the US has re-equipped its warships and aircraft in the region with ammunition.
Sources: US and Israel may resume military operations against Iran as early as next week.
