TRON has initiated a vote on Proposal No. 106, proposing adjustments to the SELFDESTRUCT mechanism to improve TVM compatibility.

PANews reported on April 7th that the TRON network Super Representatives (SRs) have initiated Proposal No. 106, which has entered the committee voting stage. If the proposal passes the vote, it is expected to take effect on April 10th at 20:00 (Singapore time). The proposal aims to adjust the execution behavior and cost of the SELFDESTRUCT instruction: the contract will only be truly deleted if the instruction is invoked within the same transaction that created the contract; otherwise, only the contract assets will be transferred, and the contract itself will not be deleted. Simultaneously, the energy consumption of SELFDESTRUCT will be adjusted from 0 to 5000.

If the proposal passes, the relevant mechanisms will be further aligned with Ethereum, which will help improve TVM compatibility. TRON reminds developers using SELFDESTRUCT to closely monitor the proposal's progress and prepare for adaptation in advance. If nodes experience synchronization issues, it is recommended to first check if they have been upgraded to v4.8.1.
