Iran's refusal to open the strait in exchange for empty promises has led to a volatile situation and the potential closure of the Bab el-Mandeb Strait.

PANews reported on April 7th, citing Reuters and citing senior Iranian sources, that Pakistan continues to convey messages, but the US has not changed its tone. There are currently no negotiations with the US, which hopes Iran will yield under pressure. "When we see the US show flexibility, we will also show flexibility," the Iranian representative stated. "What the US wants is the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz; Iran will not exchange the opening of the strait for empty promises." If the US attacks Iranian power plants, the entire region and Saudi Arabia will be plunged into darkness. Qatar conveyed Iran's position on attacking power plants to the US on Monday. If the situation spirals out of control, Iran's allies will also close the Bab el-Mandeb Strait.
