CZ: If I were to start Binance from scratch today, what different things would I do?

In the interview, CZ revealed that if Binance is to be rebuilt from scratch in 2026, it will be more cautious in terms of compliance and more aggressive in promoting product development and talent strategies in order to cope with the clear regulatory environment and the opportunities of the AI era.

In an interview for Binance founder CZ’s new book, he was asked: If you were to rebuild Binance from scratch in 2026, what would be the different approach?

He stated, "If I were to rebuild Binance from scratch in 2026, with my current experience and a much clearer regulatory environment than nine years ago, I would be much more cautious about compliance. At the same time, I would likely be more aggressive in hiring and pushing product development forward. Back then, Binance was indeed doing very well and growing rapidly, but I was more conservative in product development; I wanted to ensure the existing products were running stably before launching new ones."

Furthermore, I might be more decisive in dealing with talent issues, including retaining core talent and eliminating those who don't contribute much. Especially in today's AI era, a small number of people will create disproportionately large results, so you need to retain the top performers and then weed out the underperformers.

Overall, there are some things I'll do differently, but for the most part, about 80 percent of things will remain the same.
