Vance stated that significant progress had been made in negotiations with Iran, and the second round of talks would depend on Iran.

PANews reported on April 14th that, according to Jinshi News, US Vice President Vance stated in an interview with Fox News that the US has made significant progress in negotiations with Iran. When asked if there would be further negotiations, Vance said the ball was in Tehran's court. He added that the US expects Iran to make progress on opening the Strait of Hormuz and warned that the situation would change if Tehran did not. Furthermore, according to Fox News, Vance revealed details of the negotiations, stating that the US delegation withdrew after determining that Iranian negotiators lacked the authority to reach a final agreement, and now any progress depends on the approval of the Tehran leadership. He said, "I think we really understand some of the Iranians' negotiating style, and that's ultimately why we left Pakistan, because we found that, I think, the team there couldn't reach an agreement, and they had to go back to Tehran, either with the Supreme Leader's approval or someone else's approval, to accept the conditions we put forward." Vance emphasized that Trump remains open to establishing a more normalized relationship with Iran, provided the key conditions are met. However, he stated that for Iran to become a normal country economically, it must become a normal country that does not pursue nuclear weapons, and it must also become a normal country that does not engage in "terrorism."
