PANews reported on April 15th, citing Iran's state news agency IRNA, that an Iranian lawmaker stated that despite believing Washington to be "untrustworthy," Tehran will continue to participate in negotiations with the United States. "Iran will continue to participate in negotiations to expose the behavior of the United States, and, under the guidance of its leadership, is ready to thwart any self-serving American conspiracies," said Esmaeil Kowsari, a member of the Iranian parliament and the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee. He added, "Ultimately, such behavior will only drag the United States deeper into the quagmire and damage its global standing." Kowsari also stated that the United States has suffered a "humiliating defeat" and that Trump is trying to achieve a "dignified ending" to withdrawing from the war.
