Prediction markets Kalshi and Polymarket plan to launch perpetual contract trading.

PANews reported on April 22 that, according to CoinDesk, prediction market platform Kalshi plans to launch cryptocurrency perpetual contract trading in the United States, starting with perpetual contracts for tokens such as Bitcoin. Leveraging its existing CFTC license and recently approved margin trading permissions, Kalshi will compete with platforms like Coinbase and Robinhood. Kalshi's expansion comes at a time of changing regulatory landscape in the United States, where such products were previously primarily traded on offshore venues. Kalshi's competitor, Polymarket, also announced plans on Tuesday to launch perpetual contracts on its platform. With declining crypto trading volumes and surging prediction market activity, the two sectors are rapidly converging, with platforms expanding their product lines to compete for the same group of traders.
