The investigative firm, QRI , combined early mining activity timelines, C++ coding style, PGP work records, and Cypherpunk connections to narrow down the candidates to Finney and Sassaman , suggesting they were responsible for Bitcoin's code implementation and white paper writing and polishing, respectively. The documentary interviewed several early cryptography and Bitcoin participants, as well as two widows, who acknowledged that the two were " co-creators of Bitcoin," but admitted a lack of cryptographically verifiable evidence.
