Sources: Iran is expected to submit a revised peace proposal soon.

PANews reported on April 28 that, according to sources familiar with the matter who spoke to CNN, Pakistan, involved in the mediation process, is expected to receive a revised proposal from Iran in the coming days aimed at ending the war, following US President Trump's statement that he would not accept an earlier version of the offer. The sources said that Iranian Foreign Minister Araqchi will return to Tehran after a visit to Russia and is expected to consult with the country's leaders. The process has been slow due to difficulties in communicating with Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei (whose whereabouts are kept secret). Trump had previously stated that he would not accept the version submitted by Iran last weekend—a proposal to end the war first, leaving the thorny issues related to Iran's nuclear program to be addressed at a later stage. The sources indicated that the process is still ongoing and fraught with uncertainty, largely depending on whether Iran will submit a revised proposal that is more acceptable to the US.
