Aptos launches Confidential APT, a new privacy coin pegged 1:1 to APT.

PANews reported on April 29th that Aptos has launched a new privacy coin, "Confidential APT," pegged 1:1 to APT. This token uses zero-knowledge proofs to hide balances and transaction amounts while retaining transaction verifiability. A previous governance proposal passed this privacy feature almost unanimously. Aptos Labs founding engineer Sherry Xiao stated that this privacy coin prevents competitors from tracking a company's treasury movements and transaction strategies during on-chain transactions, solves the problem of employee payroll being permanently disclosed, and reduces the risk of users being profiled or targeted for fraud. Confidential APT can meet KYC and anti-money laundering compliance requirements under investigations or subpoenas through an audit key. The audit key requires on-chain governance voting authorization to be activated and only allows relevant parties to view the amounts during investigations, while user privacy is protected by default. Unlike Monero, the address and transaction verification process of this privacy coin are publicly visible.
