PANews reported on May 9th that, according to Crypto.news, New South Wales police in Australia seized 52.3 bitcoins, worth approximately AU$5.7 million (US$4.1 million), in an operation targeting darknet markets, making it one of the largest seizures of darknet crypto assets in the country. This operation was part of the Strike Force Andalusia investigation, which began in September 2024 and lasted 15 months. Police tracked a large Bitcoin wallet holding darknet market proceeds, ultimately identifying two male suspects, aged 39 and 41, who are accused of supplying illicit drugs and transferring over AU$100,000 in darknet-related cryptocurrencies.
