High-level US officials met with the Qatari prime minister to push for a ceasefire in Iran.

PANews reported on May 10th that, according to Jinshi, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and White House Special Envoy Vitkov met with Qatari Prime Minister Al Thani in Miami on Saturday to focus on ending the war with Iran. The US and Iran are currently negotiating a one-page ceasefire memorandum, aimed at establishing a framework for more detailed negotiations. Qatar is playing a key mediating role in this process. Al Thani had met with Vice President Vance in Washington the previous day, then changed his itinerary to travel to Miami, during which time he also called the Saudi Foreign Minister to coordinate positions. As of Saturday afternoon, the US was still awaiting a response from Iran. Besides Qatar, Pakistan, Egypt, Turkey, and Saudi Arabia, among other countries, are working together to push for de-escalation and an agreement. Sources say the mediators are urging both sides to focus on the agreement itself.
