Galaxy has obtained a BitLicense in New York State, which will allow it to provide digital asset services in the state.

PANews reported on May 19th that, according to The Block, Galaxy Digital announced that the New York State Department of Financial Services has issued it a BitLicense and a money transfer license, allowing it to provide digital asset services in New York State. This approval applies to Galaxy subsidiary GalaxyOne Prime NY, which will provide trading and custody services to New York residents, institutions, and businesses.

This approval brings Galaxy's total number of licenses worldwide to over 50. Galaxy is the second company this year to receive a BitLicense, following Strike, founded by Jack Mallers. By 2025, only MoonPay and Bullish, backed by Peter Thiel, will have received the license.
