PANews reported on May 23 that Wang Chun, co-founder of F2Pool, published an article on the X platform, explaining the core motivation for carrying out the first manned Mars flyby mission aboard SpaceX Starship, clearly stating that Mars is placed on the Moon, and personally promoting the process of human "multi-planetary survival".
Wang Chun stated that the debut of Starship V3 brings humanity one step closer to multiplanetary survival. Looking back at the Fram2 training, besides the Dragon spacecraft, the team's most frequent discussion focused on the reliability of landing on Phobos, highlighting their technological focus on the Martian system. Although Musk announced three months ago that SpaceX would shift its focus to the moon and believed that AI data centers could be a viable path to commercialization in space, Wang Chun insisted that the target must be Mars, not the moon. He frankly admitted that he was uncertain whether humans could land on Mars within this generation's lifespan, and therefore hoped to personally drive this process.
He emphasized that purchasing the Mars flyby mission is to give SpaceX a reason to "not forget Mars" and not to postpone the Mars program to the next generation. Although this mission will not attempt a landing on Phobos, great exploration begins with the first step, and he hopes to prove to the public that Mars is not just a point of light in a telescope, but a real world that humans can reach and safely travel to.
