US core PCE hits near two-and-a-half-year high in April.

PANews reported on May 28 that initial jobless claims in the US for the week ending May 23 were 215,000, below the expected 211,000 and the revised previous figure of 210,000 (originally 209,000). The revised annualized quarterly rate of US real GDP for the first quarter was 1.6%, below the expected 2.00% and the previous figure of 2.00%. The US core PCE price index for April was 3.3% year-on-year, the highest level since November 2023, in line with market expectations. The expected figure was 3.30%, and the previous figure was 3.20%.
