PANews reported on May 30th that, according to Decrypt, a former Ukrainian police officer kidnapped a cryptocurrency entrepreneur and extorted approximately $2.2 million through violence, intimidation, and fraudulent debt claims. Prosecutors stated that the gang targeted at least four victims and used law enforcement methods, official vehicles, and impersonation of police officers to commit their crimes. The Kyiv District Prosecutor's Office stated that a pre-trial investigation has been completed. The gang includes four former police officers and one previously convicted civilian, but none of them have yet been formally charged with the attacks.
