PANews reported on May 30 that, according to Front Office Sports, former NBA player Tristan Thompson has sued UK-based encryption company World Mobile Group, accusing it of fabricating excuses to terminate a $2 million endorsement deal and continuing to use his name, image, and portrait rights without authorization.
Thompson claims that under an agreement signed in May 2025, he was promised up to $2 million worth of WMTX cryptocurrency tokens from the company. He states that he fulfilled his obligations under the agreement, including promoting the company on social media and participating in public events, but the company terminated its partnership with him in March of this year. According to the agreement, World Mobile Group was to pay the tokens in quarterly installments. In December 2025, the company informed Thompson that they had unexpectedly issued him a larger quantity of WMTX tokens than expected. Thompson claims he proposed a "reasonable solution: offsetting the excess tokens against the quarterly dividend due in approximately 60 days." Three months later, the company issued him a "material breach of contract and termination of contract" notice. The case is currently pending in court.
