The U.S. Central Command issued a statement saying that under the direction of President Trump, U.S. forces carried out a new round of strikes on multiple targets inside Iran. The statement said that after the U.S. military struck Iranian targets on the 26th over the attack on the merchant vessel “Chang Yue,” the U.S. side had given Iran an opportunity to fulfill a ceasefire agreement, but at 4:30 a.m. U.S. Eastern Time on the 27th, the Iranian military again launched one-way attack drones, hitting an oil tanker flying the Panamanian flag and carrying more than 2 million barrels of crude oil.

The U.S. military stated that this strike was a direct response to Iran’s continued attacks on commercial shipping, targeting Iranian military surveillance infrastructure, communication systems, air defense positions, drone storage facilities, and mine-laying capabilities. The statement said that commercial vessel traffic in the Strait of Hormuz is still ongoing, and U.S. forces will remain on high alert.
