Warning: Scammers take over abandoned DeFi project websites to trick users into signing malicious transactions

PANews reported on April 17 that according to Protos, DeFi users have recently encountered a new type of fraud: scammers took over the official website of abandoned projects and tricked old users into signing malicious "fund draining" transactions. This passive scam is different from traditional proactive scams. It specifically targets old users who may still have bookmarks of old projects. 0xngmi, the anonymous founder of DeFiLlama, warned that they have removed expired domain names from the platform and browser extensions, but still reminded users to remain vigilant. Since these project teams have been disbanded, no one can discover security vulnerabilities or replace malicious interfaces in time. Users can only rely on themselves to carefully check each transaction to be signed, with almost no other choice. A Maker/Sky community member pointed out that the official domain name of the now-defunct Maker sub-DAO Sakura is currently being sold for just one cent.
