PANews reported on February 17 that a U.S. judge rarely scheduled a court hearing on a holiday on Monday in a case filed by Democratic state attorneys general to protect major federal agencies from the influence of the "Department of Government Efficiency" (DOGE) led by Musk. The judge did not explain why the hearing was held, but on Friday, she heard arguments from 13 Democratic state attorneys general for a temporary restraining order aimed at prohibiting the DOGE team from accessing the information systems of several government agencies, including the Department of Labor, Department of Education, Department of Health and Human Services, Department of Energy, Department of Transportation, Department of Commerce, and the Office of Personnel Management.
