Interpreting the privacy protection tool Fluidkey: How to navigate the on-chain world without exposing your address?

  • Privacy Importance: The article emphasizes privacy as a crucial right and a bridge to a transparent, trust-based future, highlighting its intersection with security and manipulation.

  • Fluidkey Tool: Introduces Fluidkey, a privacy tool that allows users to manage on-chain transactions without exposing personal addresses by generating new stealth addresses for each transaction.

  • Key Features:

    • Automatically directs payments to new, private addresses.
    • Supports various wallets (e.g., Metamask, Coinbase Wallet) and login methods (Farcaster, Google, email).
    • Compatible with multiple blockchains (Base, Optimism, Ethereum mainnet, etc.).
    • Simplifies managing multiple stealth addresses via a unified dashboard.
  • How It Works:

    • Uses stealth meta addresses to create one-time-use stealth addresses for transactions.
    • Provides private viewing and spending keys for secure fund control.
    • Scans blockchain for payments and consolidates funds for easy management.
  • Example Scenario: Alice receives payments from Bob via stealth addresses, ensuring privacy—outsiders cannot link transactions to her identity.

  • Broader Vision: The article frames privacy tools like Fluidkey as steps toward balancing personal protection with trust in a transparent, decentralized future, where openness and innovation coexist.

Privacy is not only a symbol of personal rights, but also an important transition bridge for us to move towards a transparent and trustful future. If you have not yet realized the importance of privacy, I recommend reading KeyMapDAO's article "Freedom Betrayed": Who Should I Trust? " It is a profound work that reveals how privacy is intertwined with manipulation, security, and conflicts of interest.

Privacy is a choice that gives us the power to protect ourselves. Openness, on the other hand, is another expression of trust—putting all imperfections and complexities in the sun, accepting them calmly, and treating them truthfully. In the crypto world, “in blockchain, we trust” itself is an extreme exploration of rules and trust: playing with open hands, without reservation, and relying on technology to reshape order.

However, humans are not perfect. We often cannot fully accept our own or others' flaws, and may even reject or manipulate things we don't understand. This makes complete openness a long road of exploration. Before this, privacy becomes a necessary strategy for us to gradually move towards an ideal society.

One of the directions of crypto development is to protect privacy, but this important field seems to be inherently opposed to regulation. However, privacy is still an effort worth moving forward against the wind, whatever it takes.

Fluidkey: Accept and manage funds on-chain without exposing your personal address

Interpreting the privacy protection tool Fluidkey: How to navigate the on-chain world without exposing your address?

What if you could protect your on-chain privacy without having to deal with more and more accounts?

Fluidkey is a privacy protection tool. With Fluidkey, every payment of your private ENS will be automatically directed to a new address that only you can control. With Fluidkey, you can:

  • Manage your personal funds

  • Receive, buy and trade tokens

  • Accepting Money from Friends and Family

  • Receive salary or freelance compensation

  • Receive payment from customers for products or services

  • Get funding from investors

  • Crowdfunding or donation

Fluidkey is compatible with a variety of wallets:

  • Metamask

  • Coinbase Wallet

  • Rainbow

  • Dawn

  • Any EOA or MPC wallet compatible with WalletConnect

You can also connect to Fluidkey using your Farcaster, Google, or email account.

Fluidkey is currently available on Base, Optimism, Arbitrum, Polygon, Gnosis, and Ethereum mainnet.

How it works

On public blockchains such as Ethereum, using a new address for each transaction is an effective strategy for protecting privacy. However, handling multiple addresses at the same time can quickly become overwhelming. With Fluidkey, users can use a new address for each transaction without having to manage all of these addresses.

Because of the use of stealth addresses, Fluidkey creates a new privacy-preserving Smart Account for every payment you receive. Fluidkey then consolidates all of these Smart Accounts into a unified dashboard, giving users the convenience of managing a single wallet.

For example:

When Alice's friend Bob sends her money, outsiders can only see that Bob sent the money to an address that has never been used. They cannot determine the recipient or the reason for the payment. Alice can control her funds without revealing her identity.

When Alice registers Fluidkey, the system generates private viewing and spending keys, as well as a stealth meta address.

Now let’s focus on the stealth meta address. Think of it as a digital instruction sheet that generates a unique, one-time use stealth address for Alice, without her having to do anything.

A stealth address is like an anonymous mailbox where:

  • Bob can send a payment

  • Only Alice has access and control over the funds sent to her

  • No one else can link this address back to Alice

To an outside observer, a stealth address looks like any other address on the blockchain.

Every time Bob clicks on Alice’s Fluidkey-enabled payment link, a new stealth address is automatically predicted based on her stealth meta address. When Bob sends a payment to this new address via Fluidkey, a Smart Account is created at the predicted address that only Alice can control but that cannot be linked to Alice by an outside observer.

As mentioned before, Alice has two special keys:

  • A private viewing key that allows Alice to scan the blockchain for payments sent to her. Since scanning payments herself is tedious, she allows Fluidkey to use this key to notify her of incoming payments in real time.

  • A private spend key that only Alice uses to control her funds. Fluidkey never asks for this key and cannot access Alice's funds.

Managing multiple stealth addresses can become complicated as a large number of payments come in. Fluidkey simplifies this process by displaying all of Alice’s funds in a unified dashboard that makes it feel like a regular crypto wallet.

When Alice wants to send money, Fluidkey automatically checks which of her stealth addresses has the correct amount. If none, it finds the best combination of addresses to complete the payment. For Alice, the experience remains simple, and she can approve the transaction as she would in any other wallet. For the recipient of Alice's payment, the experience is also simple, as she only sees one payment.

summary

Whether it is the transition to privacy protection or the move towards a new world of complete transparency, it is all part of our joint exploration of a better future. Privacy gives us the freedom to choose, allowing us to find a balance between protecting ourselves and trusting others. And full openness is a deeper level of trust, a calm acceptance of rules, technology, and the complexity of human nature.

Being completely open means facing possible manipulation and gaming, but it also means that we begin to get rid of hiding and disguise and face the world with truth. It is a way to reconstruct trust and also a higher-dimensional order.

The significance of crypto lies not only in technological revolution, but also in the fact that it provides a new social experimental field, giving us the opportunity to explore a new world beyond traditional control through transparent rules and open data.

In this world, perhaps openness is the rule and trust no longer needs an intermediary.

Transparency does not mean fragility. Instead, it is an equal foundation that gives everyone the opportunity to verify, understand and participate.

Of course, a completely open new world cannot be pure and flawless, it is also mixed with complex human nature and conflicts of interest. But because of this, this world is full of more possibilities: when transparency becomes a consensus, manipulation is no longer hidden in the shadows, but becomes an open game; when openness becomes the norm, innovation and trust will jointly shape a richer and more diverse future.
