PANews reported on August 20th that Bill Pulte, director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency, sent a letter to the Attorney General requesting an investigation into Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook for alleged mortgage fraud. The letter accused Cook of possibly falsifying bank documents and financial records to obtain more favorable loan terms and cited relevant criminal statutes for investigation. Trump subsequently issued a statement publicly demanding Cook's immediate resignation. Cook was nominated by Biden to the Federal Reserve, and her current term runs until 2038. The Federal Reserve and the Department of Justice declined to comment.
